Disadvantages of studying MBBS Abroad

There are benefits of pursuing MBBS abroad but that has a fair share of disadvantages too. These are the problems and drawbacks you should be aware of.

    1. Syllabus/Topics/Epidemiology may differ in countries. Some universities tend to focus more on local epidemic diseases and not other diseases.
    2. Especially subjects such as dermatology, community medicine, forensic, etc will be different. This comes as a result of varying health policies, laws, and prevalent diseases in the region. For example, Tuberculosis is very prevalent in India. So, it will be taught in detail. But in other countries, tuberculosis may not be that prevalent and their textbooks may not cover it in detail.
    3. In some countries, students have to learn a new language that is native to a particular country because of bilingual teaching. Many face difficulty in understanding if one speaks in a local language.
    4. In some places, the duration of MBBS courses is very long. On top of that, colleges sometimes increase the fee in mid-session.
    5. Poor clinical skills and lesser exposure to patients in some universities abroad are unfortunate. Therefore, students doing Internships turn out to be observers only.
    6. Wrong consultants or brokers may charge students extra money and brokerage fee.
    7. Additionally, students often find it difficult to adjust to totally different cultures and environments(e.g. extreme cold).
    8. But with proper guidance and the right path students will be able to fulfill their dream of getting MBBS degree from good foriegn medical university.
