The country also has 50 wildlife sanctuaries for the protection of flora and fauna. Bangladesh has much of the Sundarbans. Sunderbans is the world’s largest mangrove forest. It covers an area of 6,000 sq. Km. In the southwest region of the Sundarbans, the Bengal tiger, clouded leopard, saltwater crocodile, black panther, and fishing cat are found.
In terms of market exchange rates, Bangladesh has the world’s 39th largest economy. Apart from this, Bangladesh is the 29th largest in terms of purchasing power parity. It ranks second in South Asia after India.
The seventh-largest natural gas producer in Asia is Bangladesh. The country also has one of the world’s oldest tea industries. Bangladesh also exports fish and seafood in huge numbers.. The service sector contributes 51 percent of the country’s GDP. Agriculture is the main employment sector in the country. It comprises about 14.2 percent of Bangladesh’s GDP. The sector also employs about 42.7 percent of the workforce.
