China is a country in East Asia. It is the most populous country in the world. It is also the largest country in Asia. The capital of China is Beijing. The main industrial city of the country is Shanghai. The commercial center of China is Hong Kong. The land varies from mountainous to coastal lowlands. The climate of china ranges from extremely dry to tropical monsoon.
The majority of people in China are Chinese (Han). There are about 55 minority groups in the country. Sino-Tibetan and Altaic languages are the widely spoken languages. The other common languages are Indo-European, Austroasiatic, and Tai languages. More than half of the population of China is non-religious. The other religions followed are Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity.
About half of the country’s population lives in urban areas. The remaining population resides in rural areas. China is the leading producer of rice in the world. The country also produces many industrial and mineral products. They are cotton cloth, tungsten, coal, crude oil, etc. About 10% of China’s land area is suitable for cultivation. The important crop of southern china is rice. On the other hand, wheat is an important crop in north china.
Tea is produced in the hilly areas of the southeast. Cotton is the dominant crop in the central provinces. Tobacco is grown in the center and the South. Other important crops are potatoes, sugar beets, and oilseeds. Apart from this, animal husbandry is the next most important part of agricultural production. In addition to this, China produces pigs, chickens, eggs, sheep, and cattle. This is the largest in the world
Coal is the most abundant mineral resource of China. In addition to this some parts of the country have iron ore reserves. The other mineral resources are lead, zinc, bauxite, fluorite, gypsum, asbestos, and cement.
The educational structure of China includes six years of primary school, (three years each of lower secondary school and upper secondary school) and four years in the standard university curriculum. All schools in urban areas are financed by the state. On the other hand, rural schools depend on their financial resources.
Generally, the daily temperature is more than 18 °F (10 °C). The temperature may exceed 45 °F (25 °C) in extreme cases. Most of the time, air mass affects North China. Hence, it is dry, with clear weather and sunshine during the winter months.
